You don’t have to fall apart to ask for help.
That’s one of the biggest myths holding high-functioning addicts back from recovery. If your bills are paid, your kids are cared for, and you still show up to work on time, then it’s easy to believe you’re not “sick enough” to need treatment.
But functioning doesn’t equal freedom. And survival isn’t the same as living.
At River Rocks Recovery, we specialize in helping high-achievers finally let go of the secret double life—the one where everything looks fine on the outside, but the inside is screaming.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) isn’t about losing control. It’s about regaining it—on your terms, in your real life.
Let’s walk through what a week in our IOP program could actually look like.
Monday: You Show Up Tired—Not Broken
You don’t show up with a duffel bag and a dramatic breakdown scene. You show up in slacks, maybe still responding to emails. You’re not here because someone made you. You’re here because the math stopped working—whatever you’re doing to cope just isn’t covering the cost anymore.
Our Monday evening groups start with check-ins. No pressure to bare your soul. No spotlight. Just a circle of people who’ve been pretending just as hard as you have.
Someone across from you says, “I’m just tired of lying to myself.” And suddenly, it’s not about addiction or labels. It’s about exhaustion—and the quiet hope that maybe this place could help.
Tuesday: The Wall Starts to Crack
Tuesday’s group dives into emotional triggers and stress responses. You don’t love therapy buzzwords. But you’re surprised how much the session hits.
You talk about the stress of being the one everyone depends on. The perfectionism. The fear of letting go because if you stop performing, the whole damn thing might fall apart.
Someone else in the room says they drink to “turn their brain off for a minute.” You nod. You don’t even realize how much tension you’re holding until you speak your own truth out loud.
Later that night, you skip your usual glass—or three—of wine. Not because someone told you not to. But because tonight, you’re curious what it’s like to feel your feelings instead of mute them.
Wednesday: You Feel the Resistance
Halfway through the week, you question everything.
Do I really need this? Is this too much? I’m not like “those people.” Am I?
We don’t fight you on that. We meet you in it.
Resistance is part of the process. Denial doesn’t always look like “I’m fine.” Sometimes it looks like rationalizing—telling yourself you’re not as bad as so-and-so. Or that you can quit any time… once the next project wraps. Once your kid’s birthday passes. Once the pressure lets up.
But the pressure never lets up. And IOP becomes the only three hours in your day where you’re not performing.
And that? That’s worth coming back for.
Thursday: You Finally Breathe
By now, something’s shifted.
Today’s session is on core beliefs and behavioral loops—how past pain becomes present patterns. You trace your drinking back to something earlier than you expected. It started as a reward for pushing through, and now it’s the price of survival.
You don’t cry. You just breathe differently.
You make eye contact with someone in group. They nod. You feel less alone. And more real than you’ve felt in a long time.
Friday: You Leave With Your Head Up
Friday wraps with relapse prevention and reflection. But here’s the thing:
No one here is handing out gold stars. No one’s tracking “success” like a spreadsheet. We’re talking about what helps—not what looks good.
You leave your first week not “fixed,” not sure, not ready to call yourself anything. But you know this:
You don’t want to go back to pretending.
You’ve been walking through life as a ghost of yourself. And now, for the first time in a long time, you feel solid. Like maybe you don’t have to carry it all alone anymore.
What Does IOP Actually Include?
River Rocks Recovery’s Intensive Outpatient Program includes:
- 9+ hours per week of clinical programming
- Group therapy sessions, 3–5 days per week
- Individual counseling and check-ins
- Psychoeducation around substance use, trauma, coping skills
- Relapse prevention planning
- Optional family involvement
All of this happens outside your 9-to-5. Evening sessions allow you to keep working, parenting, or managing your life while you get help.
It’s not easy. But it is possible. And we’ll be right here with you.

FAQ: Intensive Outpatient Treatment at River Rocks Recovery
What’s the difference between IOP and inpatient rehab?
IOP allows you to live at home, go to work, and maintain your daily routine while attending treatment sessions several times per week. Inpatient rehab requires a full-time stay at a facility, usually lasting 30+ days.
Can I still work while doing IOP?
Yes. Most of our clients work full-time or part-time. We offer evening sessions to accommodate work and family obligations.
Do I have to call myself an addict to join?
No. Labels are optional. What matters is how you feel—and if what you’re doing is still working. If you’re exhausted from keeping it together, IOP might be for you.
What if I drink or use during treatment?
We expect honesty, not perfection. Recovery isn’t linear. If you slip, we’ll support you—not shame you.
How do I get started?
Call us. That’s it. We’ll walk you through insurance, schedule an assessment, and help you understand if IOP is the right level of care.
Ready to Get Real?
You don’t have to wait for a crisis to get support. You don’t have to quit your job or walk away from your life.
But you do have to want more than just making it through the day.
